Swedish dishcloths

Updated: May 9, 2018

We all need to play our part in being 'green' and protecting our environment. You can make one small step in the right direction by switching from paper towels to Swedish Dishcloths in the kitchen and bathroom. Swedish Dishcloths have been around since 1949 in Scandinavia but are now becoming a trendy and Eco-friendly way to clean. At the shop, we carry the Three Bluebirds brand, made in here Connecticut. The patterns and colors available are ever increasing and are sure to be a great gift for anyone. Here are the highlights of their functionality:

  • One Swedish Dishcloth replaces 17 rolls of paper towels.

  • It absorbs 15x its weight.

  • It is far more hygienic than a sponge and won’t crumble or pill.

  • It air dries quickly, so it doesn’t breed bacteria or smell.

  • Cleans most household surfaces.

  • Can be used with just water, soap, or cleaners.

  • Cleans counter tops, granite, stainless steel and glass.

  • Cleans streak-free.

  • It can be cleaned in the washing machine or in the top rack of the dishwasher.

  • It can also be boiled or microwaved (when damp) for 30 seconds.

  • Hang over the faucet or lay flat to air dry. Do not tumble dry.

  • Lasts 9-12 months and is biodegradable

  • It is 100% natural and printed with water based inks.

  • You can even compost it!

  • PRO TIP! The back side is the scrubby side!

So, let's do some quick math...

$1/roll papertowels

1 roll per week = $52 per year

$7/Swedish dishcloth = $7 per year

I think it's a no brainer!
